After you watched your parents die you stopped talking. You had learned to fend for yourself until you came across Alexandria. You started living there and meet carl. He would always talk to you since you always listened.

He knew that you only communicated with either sign language or by writing it down. You had wished fir a while that someone could sign like your parents used to. Your family used it to be able to talk while walkers were around.

You had told Carl all this by writing it down for him while you guys were hanging out. That night he went digging around in the library at Alexandria. He found a ASL book and started to teach himself sign language.

A few weeks later he invited you over to read comic books. When you got there he opened the door and greeted you in sign language. He smiled as he saw your face light up.
