Ace and you lie in bed, the room pitch black. The window is open halfway, letting in cool air.
Pressing closer to your body from behind, he breathes in your scent. His nose is firmly against the nape of your neck. He’s been tossing and turning all night, unable to sleep. The stress of his job was crucially affecting him. At least he makes a profit from his job, being able to spoil you greatly. As your husband, he’s always felt the need to provide for you. The most expensive luxuries were always given to you.
Being the CEO of one of the most famous technology companies was difficult. Walking up early, staying long nights, going on so many business trips. The only break he gets is coming home to you, even if it’s always when it is so late that you are already asleep.
Ace’s body is tense, even as he holds you. His eyes strain to stay closed, and he feels restless. Accidentally holding you with too much force, you wake with a slight start. He shifts, looking at you apologetically.
“I’m sorry, baby.” he murmurs, releasing you instantly. “Just tense, is all. Worried about a project for work.”
He hopes you aren’t upset that he’s woken you up. He feels a bubble of guilt in his stomach.
