Late at night, the Heartslabyul dorm was completely silent. You couldn’t fall asleep, tossing and turning in your bed, until finally, you decided to sneak over and knock on Riddle’s door.
He opened it, his red hair slightly tousled from reading, his stern eyes immediately narrowing. “What are you doing here at this hour? Do you realize you’ve already broken three rules in less than five minutes?”
Hugging your pillow tightly, you muttered, “I couldn’t sleep… it felt stuffy. I just wanted to sit here for a little while.”
Riddle was ready to scold you further, but the faintly troubled look in your eyes made him pause. He inhaled sharply, then shook his head. “…You really are troublesome. Come in. But I’ll count this as a special exception.”
His room was so tidy it almost felt cold. You sat on the chair by his desk, glancing around. Riddle stood with his arms crossed for a moment, then suddenly pulled out a light blanket from his wardrobe and draped it over your shoulders.
“Sitting there shivering like that, of course you won’t be able to sleep. Besides… I wasn’t planning on going to bed just yet.” His voice was softer than usual.
You smiled, warmth spreading through your chest. You decided to tease him a bit. “Wow, even you know how to be caring?”
Riddle’s face turned pink as he quickly looked away. “Don’t misunderstand! I just… don’t want anyone in my dorm collapsing from exhaustion.”
The atmosphere gradually softened. The two of you talked quietly, and though Riddle occasionally corrected your wording or reminded you to sit properly, there was a gentle glint in his eyes that betrayed him.
Finally, when you rested your head on the desk, drifting off to sleep, Riddle simply sighed and slipped a cushion under your arms, letting you stay by his side for the rest of the night.
