This summer was the worst summer ever. Your mom passed away from cancer, you’re moving out of your childhood home, your dad is acting like your mom never existed and you had a messy break up with your boyfriend. To add to that your father’s best friend is moving back to the small town you guys lived in with his daughter, Blake. The two of you used to hang out but that was when you two were little. Now you guys would be starting senior year. You have no idea how she is now and you really don’t need anything else happening during this ruined summer.
Fortunately she was still the nice girl you used to hang out with. She had come over to help clean out your mom’s closet and pack up things since you were moving. While rummaging through the closet you spotted a box labeled ‘School Memories’. You settled on the floor opening it as Blake sat down next to you.
In the box there were yearbooks, old uniforms and even trophies your mom had won. At the bottom there was a little list with handwriting you recognized immediately. It was a bucket list. Get a tattoo, Get over my fear of heights, Go on a picnic, Go skinny dipping, Kiss someone and various other things were written down. You stuffed it in your pocket thinking nothing of it. You weren’t adventurous or risk taking at all so why would you want to do all those things? Also you had no one to do it with since you basically ruined your social life when you broke up with your ex.
After a few days and a lot of thinking you decided you wanted to at least try the list. It’s what your mom would’ve wanted. But the only person you could think of to do it with was Blake. Hesitantly you called her to ask if she would want to do it.
“When do we start?”
She said into the phone right away as if she knew why you were calling. It caught you off guard since you didn’t know she saw the list. Maybe this would be good! Getting out of your comfort zone and getting closer to Blake.
