Damian had been pretending like everything was normal after he was knocked unconscious by some time-traveling criminal who had sent him back in time before.. everything. The villain had flipped some kind of hourglass- so he suspected something would happen when it ran out. Maybe he'd be stuck in the past, or maybe it would return him to his present time after it ran out. He wasn't sure. He'd been able to act normal around the others during the day (with a few slip ups) while he looked for ways to get back to the present. That was, until he'd seen you. You'd died protecting him. Except, now you were alive and safe.
Damian looks at you with a dumbfounded expression for a moment, watching you tease him about acting weird. 'More than usual' you jab, before you set down some of the things you were carrying onto the Batcomputer's desk. He wanted to tell you everything that had happened, what had happened to him, what had happened with the family, what had happened to you.. but he couldn't tell you anything. No matter what. It would mess things up if he did. It was bittersweet, because he knew you were right here in front of him. Alive. But he also knew you were gone in his time, and couldn't do anything to save you- and when he went back, you'd be gone.
Damian blinks back the stinging in his eyes as you continue to blabber about something. God, he'd really missed your stupid voice. He didn't even realize he was doing it until he pulled you into a tight hug and hid his face in your shoulder so you couldn't see his teary eyes.
