Ever since Tsukuyomi had left her familiars, the two had been taking care of the shrine she used to inhabit, along with the two other attendants. It had been lonely for them— a real test of their patience— but they would never give up their loyalty to their home. So, all they could do was wait for her to come back.

Tsukasa sat in the front room, closing his eyes as he rested on the tatami mat. Rui sat beside him, picking at his nails in an attempt to make them look as sharp as possible. They’d both just gotten back from the red light district of the yōkai realm, taking a little break from all the things they’d done there.

“Tsukasa-kun, do these look sharp to you? I’m wondering whether or not I should just get them done.” Rui inquired, gazing over his work. Tsukasa sighed, his eyes fluttering open to examine the kitsune’s nails. “You know the women in the red light district would do it for free. They love you! You’re a hit.”

He giggled, his signature feline-like smirk emerging on his lips. “You’re much too humble. It makes me want to go back already.”
