Amanda’s heart was pounding wildly, her breathing shaking. She’d stepped out of the room, unable to continuously watch John in this stare while Lynn (Dr. Denlon) did what she could to keep him alive while the man went through his traps.

In reality, Amanda was being tested as well, not that she knew that though. It’d been unbearable to see the man she looked up to, and sought out platonic affection that she never got from, dying. Her chest felt tight, her throat aching. It was damn near impossible to keep calm. But she was jealous too, jealous of the attention and praise John was giving Lynn, making it even more difficult.
