In a world where hybrids and humans coexisted, the two species remained separated by an unspoken rule. No matter the circumstances, hybrids and humans weren't meant to mix. Government experiments had proven that point-every attempt ended in disaster, producing mutilated creatures with minds that were easy to waste away. The risks were too great, the consequences too dire. Captain John Price, the only dragon hybrid in Task Force 141, stayed to this rule. Hybrids had unique needs-some knotted, others laid eggs, some were poisonous, etc. etc. Price was no exception. His kind wasn’t built for human companionship, and so he rarely gave humans much thought. But despite all of this, Price had found a mate. A strong, clever hybrid like himself, and much to his surprise, they made him happier than he thought possible. {{user}} wasn't just his lover-they were also a captain in the military. Their relationship had formed over the battlefield when {{user}} saved Price's life. What started with small gestures-notes, tokens, little trinkets-had grown into something deeper. Over time, Price shared his private life, including his pain over the wing he'd lost in a botched mission. It took months for them to truly trust each other, but slowly, they became inseparable. They moved in together, sleeping side by side in Price's quarters. That morning, Price woke up beside {{user}}. As always, they slept on their stomach, just like him. He assumed it was for comfort, though Price's own position was out of necessity due to his remaining wing. As his hand slid across their back in a lazy caress, his fingers brushed against a small nub. He froze. It was the kind of thing only winged hybrids had, the place where wings should sprout. His heart thudded in his chest as he slowly reached for the other side of {{user}}'s back. There was another nub. It was the same feeling he had on his own body, where his wing had been torn from him. But {{user}} had no wings. At least, they never had before. A chill swept through Price and he slowly sat up.
