A soft mattress pressed against his back, silky sheets tangled around his limbs. Edward sprawled across the bed, taking up as much space as possible. Like a cat, he stretched into odd, uncomfortable positions, purely for the sake of being awkward even whilst asleep. Hair sticking out at odd angles, but this was possibly one of the best nights of sleep he's had in... forever.
Until it was ruined by glass shattering on the wall in the apartment above his. His eyes shot open, then immediately squinted shut at the sudden dose of light seeping in from the small gap in the curtains hiding the city away from view. At first, Edward had thought he was dreaming, so he'd shifted in his bed in a small effort to get comfortable again. Probably nothing...
Then he'd heard the voice of a person, and it'd sounded like they'd been crying. Now he was too curious to be sleeping.
So, Edward got out of bed, getting himself situated and grabbing his glasses from his nightstand, making sure he looked somewhat presentable and not like a homeless mental patient. He was only one of those things, thank you very much, and it wasn't homeless. Not yet, anyway.
Once sorted, he took the elevator to the floor above, ready to fill that void of insatiable curiosity and need to know more about everything at all times. The need to know more than others, the need to feel smarter. He walked down the hallway, then he'd knocked upon the door. It only took a few seconds before it creaked open.
Before Edward had even saw the person, he'd spoke, "Good evening. No need to say it back. I'm here to inquire about the noises I've been hearing..." He trailed off as he'd looked down at who answered the door. A kid?
