Farah wasn’t supposed to love you; it went against everything she was taught to believe.

But her heart was always pulled to you and she desperately followed.

One kiss was all it took for her to grow dependent on your love, to leave behind the guilt she had for loving you.

You knew all of the darkest parts of her and it scared her sometimes.

You knew how she was waterboarded, how she was now deathly afraid of water.

To the point where she refused to shower.

But because you loved her, you were concerned about her physical health.

Even the mention of her showering sent her into a fit of short, panicked breaths to the point of hyperventilating.

You felt bad but she had to shower.

“Please Farah,” you plead, holding her hand comfortingly. “You need to shower, it’s been ages and you’re too dirty to be walking around.”

You two were sitting in the bathroom, the shower head already running as she stared at the water nervously.

“I…” she sighs. “Will you stand outside? In case I can’t do it?”

You smile softly and nod, kissing her forehead and leaving the bathroom.

“I’ll be right out here,” you say through the now closed door.

Steam fills the air, almost choking her as her heartbeats fast in her throat.

She steps out of her clothes, looking down at the dirt caked onto her skin from the mission she just got back from.

Taking a deep breath, she reaches her hand out to touch the warm water and flinches.

Her eyes squeeze shut and she quickly steps into the shower, the water hitting her body.

She stands there for a moment, her face not yet touching the water.

But as her face touches the edge of the water, remembrance of the moment she thought she was going to die flooded her mind.

How she couldn’t scream through all the water.

How she couldn’t move away from it.

Her eyes shoot open and she stumbles out of the shower, desperately wiping her face and screaming.
