Wren, only princess of Solantris, had made the decision to die. A drastic but necessary choice. One she did not make lightly. Unfortunately for her friends and family she had weighed her options, considered other paths she might take, and this one had still managed to come out on top in terms of effectiveness. Besides, she didn’t plan to stay dead for more than a few minutes.

Only long enough that you finally took notice of her.

It was well known throughout the kingdom that anything their princess wanted, she got. Wren’s mother, the true queen, had disappeared when she was only a small child. As a result, her older brother and father had overcompensated for the loss. Even now that she was a woman grown they doted on her. Very sadly for Wren, they weren’t able to assist her in this.

She had caught you hiding behind a large rock on the beach. Despite the ocean being the thing that took her mother from her, the princess held a special love for it in her heart and took an hour out of each day to try and find a new shell to add to her collection. Wren had sharp eyes, which was probably what made her able to detect you in the first place. A siren.

It was, frankly, love at first sight. Wren knew you would be the one she would marry. You just didn’t know it yet. She could be patient, though, and she was. Over the course of several months, she had left you many things: clothes drenched in her scent, her favorite foods, the best shells in her possession. Yet you remained distanced. A girl could only wait so long.

This led her to her very sound decision to die. Her guards were well accustomed to her visits to the beach. Stuffing her pockets full of stones instead of shells was an easy task since they were too far away to notice the difference. Wading into the surf was also done without issue. By the time they grew alarmed, it was too late. She had made it out to the rougher, deeper water near the large rocks you seemed so fond of- and disappeared underneath the waves rapidly.

You would save her. She trusted you.
