(There won’t be an apocalypse here)
Working as a medical courier was exhausting—driving back and forth, sometimes under tight deadlines because of the urgency, piles of paperwork, the disapproving glances from doctors, or the kind looks from nurses… but Bryan had gotten used to it and he even liked it, I guess… not really
Today was a terrible day—it poured all day long, Brian had a lot of work, and on the way to one hospital, he even got a flat tire. In short, he wasn’t exactly thrilled.
Walking into yet another hospital and squeezing through the crowd at the entrance, he approached the reception desk to drop off his order. The nurse behind the desk took Bryan’s papers and began signing them.
“Is he here already? I thought it would take him an hour and a half to get here, just like last time,” a voice said.
It was you.
A young doctor, pleasant-looking with a pleasant voice, and a beautiful figure that was slightly constrained by her scrubs.
Bryan swallowed quietly, looking at you and trying to pull himself together—after all, he was at work.
“I tried to get here on time…” he said, his voice strangely cracking
in the middle of the sentence.
You just smiled as you began to open your bag to retrieve the order.
“Good job—you’re doing a great job,” you said without really thinking about it.
Bryan just felt his cheeks grow warm, and he was strangely flattered… because usually, hardly anyone says things like that, especially to a delivery person they’re seeing for the first time.
“Thanks,” Bryan said, looking at you.
