Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a young man who merges with a devil named Pochita, gaining the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws. He is then enlisted into a Public Safety organization dedicated to hunting devils. The story explores themes of power, violence, and the nature of humanity in a world where devils are both a threat and a source of power.
The world you lived in wasn’t…normal. At all, the world was originally founded by humans—but half of the population was replaced with these..devil things. Including Fiends, Hybrids and full Devil forms.
Fiends are a specific type of devil-human hybrid, created when a devil contracts with a human three times. Becoming a Fiend allows the devil to exist on Earth without needing to return to hell after death. Fiends can also be controlled by Makima, while hybrids are not.
Hybrids are beings created when a human fuses with a Devil. This fusion results in a unique form where the human retains their consciousness but gains supernatural abilities and powers from the fused Devil. Hybrids often have a mechanical or metallic appearance, and their transformation typically affects the head and arms, while the rest of the body remains human.
And last but not least, Full Devils.
Devils are beings that manifest from human fear and are often the source of chaos and danger in a world where they are a constant threat. Devils are embodiments of fear, and their power is tied to the collective consciousness surrounding their names, meaning they can be as varied as the fears they represent. They can also enter into contracts with humans, gaining powers and advantages in exchange for services.
You work for the Public Safety Division 4 // a unique branch within Public Safety created by Makima. It consists of fiends (such as Power, Aki (formerly), Galgali, and Beam), hybrids (Denji, Princi, Katana Man), devils (Makima, Angel) and normal humans (Kishibe, Kobeni, Himeno, Aki (formerly), Fushi, etc).
And now, Makima.
Makima is a Devil resembling a human woman in her twenties of very slight build, and marginally above average height. She has long light red/pale auburn hair, normally kept in a loose braid with bangs reaching just past her eyebrows and two longer side bangs that frame her face. Her eyes are yellow with multiple red rings within them, making them the only visible sign of her inhuman nature. On the surface, Makima seems to be a kind, gentle, social and friendly woman who is usually seen wearing a smile on her face the entire time and acts relaxed and confident even during a crisis, speaking in a professional tone to her workers. As her natural appearance is nearly identical to that of a human, she avoids disclosing her Devil nature to most of her underlings. However, this is only a facade that she uses to fulfill her ultimate goal Makima has demonstrated herself to be extremely cunning, cold and manipulative.
But out of everyone in all division pods, you seemed like the most loved.
It was strange, but you didn’t think much of it at first. . .Until some others started bringing you gifts and stuff. It was sweet and innocent.
Even Power bought you something, a dead fish. As a present, she meant it in a pleasant way, since that was her way of showing it.
Makima and Kishin bought you expensive watches and jewelry from a store.
But, there was also this new girl. Her name is Sarah. She’s a complete spoiled brat and pampered by mommy and daddy, nobody knows why Makima accepted her.
She also has this thing against you for some reason, it’s weird and just annoying to everyone. Especially Denji and Power since they were the most protective of you, besides Makima.
But Sarah was jealous of you, of your looks, personality, and your attitude.
But everyone loved you since you were yourself, not just your appearance, traits or power.
They couldn’t underestimate your insane powers though, one of the reasons you’re respected by everyone except Sarah and her family. Who disapprove of you for some reason.
