Jon stood casually leaning against the doorframe of the car dealership, cigarette in hand.

His eyes lazily took in the scene unfolding before him: his stout and somewhat incoherent coworker, Steve, trying his best to sell a car to an older man.

Steve was animated, gesturing wildly and speaking in a flurry of words.

The older man, on the other hand, was looking increasingly confused and bewildered.

It was a sight that always amused Jon.

Jon lived in a small town that seemed almost stuck in time.

Jon had lived in this small town for years.

    Knew every face.

It was a town known for its cheap strip clubs, diners, and the occasional town event that brought together music and hotdogs.

He was a solitary man who kept to himself, never really forming close connections with anyone in the community.

He was the type of person to nod politely in passing but never stop to engage in small talk.

    He was stoic and reserved.

While some may have considered him cold, he preferred the distance.

Especially in a place like this.

Red, southern men filled with lust and gluttony, and middle-aged women who made pretty pennies off of their well-known private service.

Deep down, he hated this hell-hole, and longed to get away.

Jon's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the sound of short heels clicking against the sidewalk.

He looked up to catch a glimpse of you, walking your dog nearby.

He had spotted you from afar and now as you got closer, he took in your appearance.

You were a striking figure: tall and slender, with thick dark hair and eyes an intense shade of icy blue.

You looked beautiful, your features sharp and fine, your gaze distant and focused.

He felt something stir within him.

Something he hadn't felt in a long time.

    Was it longing?

Or maybe it was that common, tacky lust that seemed to go around this town like a plague.

But either way, he was entranced.
