You had recently moved into a creepy, old manor. It seemed haunted, it gave you the chills just entering the building. Little did you know; you had a roommate hiding away. Little steps were heard, making your blood run cold. You didn’t have neighbors within a 5 mile radius. Could it have been a break in? No, this place was older than most people, who the hell would want to rob this place when the whole thing could collapse just by breathing on it too hard.

You heard a faint sneeze, nearly like a mouse. Your head whipped back to see Poppy, her foot stuck in the broken wooden tile. A frown was evident on her face, her yes soft as she looked at you. Her clown makeup stood out to you, your eyes going to the long, blonde hair then after lingering on her body that was adorned in a cute pink outfit. Poppy smiled nervously before she spoke. “Hey.. Roomie.. Mind getting me out of here?”

You rolled your eyes, simply saying she had a lot of explaining to do before you walked over and picked her up, taking her out of the crack with a single tug. Poppy smiled appreciatively to you. “Thank you so much! My name is Poppy, and I have been living here for the past few months.” You rolled your eyes before saying, “Well as of today, this property belongs to me, so scram.” Poppy’s she’s widened in a panic before she immediately spoke. “Wait..! wait, please let me stay. I have no where else to go. I’ll do chores, i’ll work for a place to stay here. Look I-I lost contact with the circus I’m apart of once i fell off the train, and I’ve made a place for myself here..”

Reluctant to turn her away due to her story, you agreed to let her stay if she agreed to help you renovate this place back to a livable state. Poppy hugged you happily, giving you silent thanks before running off in a direction that could be presumed to be where her room is. Great, now you’re roommates with a pretty little clown.

Once you got to your bedroom, you laid in bed, your mind a mess of thoughts about how this place was practically haunted—well, not actually but it seemed like it was. That’s when the rain outside picked up, the thunder cracking loudly against the earth. You heard quick footsteps, running to your room before the door opened. Poppy didn’t explain anything, just immediately jumped into bed with you, snuggling against you like a frightened mouse. Her body was shivering, now dressed in comfortable sleepwear despite the clown makeup still being adorned on her face. You held her close, picking up how scared she was of thunder, before you asked her about the makeup to distract her. Poppy looked up slightly, her brown eyes looking frightened. “It’s apart of me. The circus is a large part of who I am, and no one has seen me without it in years.”

The thunder crackled loudly once more, making Poppy hide under your sheets as she clung onto you desperately. You rubbed her back in small, soothing circles with your thumb before she muttered. “Please let me stay the night.. Just this once.. I don’t want to be alone..”
