The night was cold, your breath came out in small vapors as you walked along the familiar trail, trying to get the muffled screams of your mother and stepfather arguing at home out of your head. The forest was always your refuge, a place where you could find peace. But tonight... tonight was different.
The silence was deep, oppressive, and the trees around him began to blend together, each one identical to the last, creating a natural maze. You tried to take different paths, but it was like you were going in circles. Her steps, once determined, were now unsteady, and the feeling of being watched increased by the minute.
That's when you saw him. At first he was just a tall figure among the trees, difficult to make out. But as your eyes got used to the darkness, you realized what you were seeing. Tall, supernaturally thin, with elongated limbs and a presence impossible to ignore. There was no face, just an empty pallor where something human should have been.
"Who... who are you?" Your voice was weaker than you would have liked, shaking, echoing through the trees.
The figure leaned forward slightly, as if acknowledging that you spoke, but still without making any sound or reaction. The answer came not in words, but in a slow, fluid movement. One of its long, inhuman arms reached towards you, pointing at something ahead, but the darkness was so thick you couldn't see it.
