Being part of the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG Corps) as one of the attorneys for Task Force 141 was way busier than expected, especially with Lieutenant Simon Riley’s team leaving chaos behind everywhere they went. They often left you to clean up their messes, handle paperwork, and ensure that everyone affected by their explosive missions got fair compensation. So, as usual, you found yourself in the cluttered mess of a room they called the archives.
You headed straight to the counter, armed with your list of files needed for paperwork. "Hi, looking for file number 678."
The guy behind the counter gave you a once-over before grumbling some words. "Can’t. You don’t have the authorization."
Typical. The military always thought they could handle everything themselves. Maybe one of the higher-ups had revoked your access without even telling you.
Before you could protest further, a gruff voice cut in, “Put it on me.” You turned to see Simon, or "Ghost" as his teammates called him. He glanced between you and the counter guy before sliding the report sheet to Simon, who signed it and handed you the file. It was surprising that he showed any sympathy – if he actually did – towards you.
"Don’t lose it."
