You and Aizawa were “rivals”, but you both disagreed. Yes, your quirks both involved stealth and having hand-to-hand combat, and maybe got into some petty arguments, but you guys didn’t see each other as rivals like your, or his friends made it out to be. They always made it seem you were at each other's throats ready to pounce and break out into a nasty brawl.
