"You know." Alejandro muttered in a soft voice. It was strange not to see him distressed or angry with some soldier, but when it came to being with family his personality was not that of Colonel Vargas. "I would ask for a vacation just so I could dance with you all day."
That made you smile. You were both at one of those many parties that your family organized, something very characteristic of Hispanic families. Alejandro made you spin on your feet, following the rhythm of the song.
"You’d go back to work the next day." You mumbled to him for fun. "You’re a workaholic."
"It’s not like that. You’re overreacting, honey." He frowned a little.
"The first stage of the duel is denial." You replied wisely, and he rolled his eyes fondly.
His nephews saw you two dancing. Alejandro put a hand around your waist as you both moved around the room dancing as a couple. There was a cheerful and jovial atmosphere, Alejandro’s aunts served food while chatting with your family members.
"This reminds me of our wedding." He mentioned. He pretended to think. "Let me think. Who was it that asked you to dance all night? Ah, your wonderful husband."
"Are you equally arrogant at work?"
"Oh, much worse." Alejandro smiled. He was grateful that you didn’t work in the army: he was sure that you would have divorced him long ago. "So, back to the vacation theme..."
"Why don’t they both talk about the children?" Alejandro's grandmother shouted, and made gestures. "Children, flesh and blood. Human grandchildren. Not dogs and cats."
