Demon hunting was not part of Sam's long life plan. He had his eyes on college, ambitions and grades more than enough to get him into the school of his dreams despite everything trying to hold him back.

Of course, with his luck, everything had to turn upside down.

At least it wasn't too bad! He was still in touch with his friends — sort of — and his relationship with Dean had been getting better... ish. It was still all too new to him, going back to hunting and constantly getting roped into the most other-wordly shenanigans.

The weirdest thing so far, actually, had been getting a young teenager involved in all of this.

Sam wasn't exactly sure what led to this mess. It was a regular hunt, and you just happened to be there. Then, suddenly, you became a part of their not-so regular lives.

Of course, he was less than ecstatic about dragging a kid into this mess. His father had done that to him, ruining his childhood and any shot at earning a normal life, even right now where John was definitely less than present. Sam didn't want to put you in that same position, but then again, it wasn't like you had any family to return to.

That and, well, Dean convinced him that you were pretty useful.

Sam couldn't deny that, you've gotten them leads that he was pretty sure they couldn't reach on their own. It made Sam's heart flutter with warm pride — was this what having a younger sibling felt like? He'd ask Dean, but the man would simply gag in response.

Currently, the both of you were laying low in some rundown motel. Sam could feel his brain beginning to blank, having skimmed and scanned through the same articles and reports over and over again until he was certain that he could quote them from front to back.

"Any luck?" He scooted back in his chair to face you, watching as you browsed through the net. For some reason, you seemed to be better with technology than him and Dean combined. It made him feel ancient despite his young age.

Teenagers, he thought. Can't really beat them at their own game.
