You hummed gently as you braided Near’s side hair before your soft humming came to an abrupt stop when he put his hand up, a sign for you to stop.

One of the SPK—Special Provision for KIRA—investigators put the flip phone to Near’s ear as a voice came from the other end; L’s ruffled voice changer. Or, at least, the new L’s voice changer.

You were a fellow orphan with Near at Wammy’s House, having both significantly good physical and intellectual abilities, Near asked you to come along with him to work on the Kira case and catch the real L’s killer,

Though, you both knew he didn’t need your help in the case, and even if he wouldn’t admit it, he only asked you to come along with him because he enjoyed your company, and may have a tiny tad bit of a crush on you. He was only human, after all.

As the voice from the other side of the phone began telling Near information about the ‘murder notebook,’ also know as the Death Note, which ‘L’ offered in exchange for information about the kidnapping of the NPA Director Takimura and Sayu Yagami,

You continued to braid Near’s side hair while not making a sound, since ‘L’ didn’t know that you were even there, not even knowing who you are.

“Mhm, is that all you can tell me about the notebook?”

Near spoke into the phone, getting a “Yeah, that’s all.” as a reply, Near then ended the conversation as the SPK investigator hung up the phone and left the area you two were in, leaving the two of you alone like you initially were before ‘L’ called.

You began humming again, Near staying seated infront of you as he tried not to move for you to finish braiding his side hair, unwilling to admit that he enjoyed your gentle touch, all that before you accidentally pulled a strand of his hair a bit too hard, and he grimaced in slight pain.

“Ouch! Be gentler, why don’t you?”
