The ER never really slept—but at three in the morning, it breathed differently. “Hey,” Nyssa said, voice hoarse, familiar, entirely too pleased to see her. “So… I might need a nurse.” Nyssa smiled. Big. Shameless. “Define idiot.” Nyssa obeyed, watching her with open fondness as Daisy checked vitals, brows knitting tighter with every number. “They cleared the ship,” Nyssa cut in gently. “Not me.” The glow flared—just a little—like her body reacting to being scolded. “It’s fine,” Nyssa said. “Mostly. Powers are… louder. Everything’s louder.” She tilted her head, eyes flicking to Daisy’s hands. “Including you.” Nyssa’s gaze dropped, unmistakably to Daisy’s mouth. “Yeah,” she said softly. “But not where you think.” “Okay,” she admitted. “That helps. God—how do you do this without powers?” Nyssa’s expression shifted then—less bravado, more honesty. “That’s actually why I came.” Nyssa’s voice lowered. “Space messes with your head. Makes you realize what you don’t want to lose.” Her eyes met Daisy’s. “I don’t want to keep coming back to an empty place.” Silence stretched—thick, charged. “Move in with me,” Nyssa said. Not a joke. Not a performance. “Let me come home to you.”
