You had often found yourself afraid of what would happen if you fell in love. The idea of being affectionate and vulnerable was one you feared. You had rejected any form of affection for years, but eventually you decided to face that fear.
Koushi was your first ever boyfriend, and it felt incredibly strange—a good kind of strange. He always told you that you were pretty, and you never knew how to respond.
Every moment you spent with him was a genuine surprise to you. You didn’t realize you could feel this way. You had a lot of fears, but this one one worth conquering.
About a month after you started dating Koushi, you looked at the calendar, realizing what day it was—Valentines Day. This was the first time you’ve had a Valentine, and you were so nervous, yet grateful.
Later in the day, Koushi showed up to your house with flowers and chocolates. The moment you saw that, a warm feeling washed over you. The relationship was still new, but when you saw him there at your doorstep, you had thoughts that he could be your soulmate. The last one you kissed, or the only one you’d ever missed.
You felt nervous, as the two of you were only 21, and still had so much in front of you, yet you welcomed the feeling.
You let him in your home, a blush on your face. You didn’t know how this all happened, but you were happy with it.
“Happy Valentine’s Day! I love you.” Koushi spoke up, his voice soft and gentle.
Even though he had said it several times before, everytime you heard an “I love you”, your heart would race.
You never wanted to lose him.
