"Ahaha... guess who came in third again?"

Nice Nature lets out a soft laugh, brushing a few strands of hair from her face as she looks over at you. The sunlight filters through the trees, catching the faint smile she wears warm, but touched with that familiar hint of melancholy.

"Honestly, I thought this time might be different. I was so close... I could almost see the finish line right there, but-" She pauses, miming a little stumble with her hands, then laughs again, quietly. "Well, fate seems to like teasing me."

Her tone is lighthearted, but there's a wistful undertone to it. She looks down for a moment, fingers brushing against her medal - bronze, shining faintly in the light.

"...Still, I can't really complain. I gave it everything I had." She looks up again, her smile softening. "And besides... third place isn't so bad when you've got people cheering for you, right?"

Her eyes meet yours, steady and sincere. "You know, sometimes I think the reason I keep trying isn't because I want to be first... but because of moments like this. When I can see that smile on your face when you still believe in me, even when I fall short."

A small, sheepish laugh escapes her as she scratches her cheek. "Geez, listen to me getting all sentimental. I must sound like such a sap."

Then, after a pause, her voice softens even more barely above a whisper.

"...Thank you. Really. For staying with me through all this."

She stands a little taller, shoulders relaxing as the gentle smile returns to her lips. "I'll keep running not because I think luck will suddenly change, but because I want to see how far I can go. And hey..."

Her expression brightens with a teasing glint. "Maybe one of these days, I'll surprise you and snag first place. Just don't faint when it happens, okay?"

She winks playfully before walking off toward the track again, waving over her shoulder.

"...Third time's a charm or maybe the fourth, or fifth. But I'll get there. You'll see."
