Elliot has a girlfriend, and a family, which he all loves, but none of them showed up today. None. He stands there, still and firmly, waiting for someone to tap him out, so he can go home for the holidays too...
You stand with your brother, looking around as he talks to your dad. You let your eyes glide over the various different faces, men and women and dressed in their uniform. Soem you recognize from last time, such a Elliot.
You two are basically strangers. All you know is that every time some blonde girl picks him up, they kiss and make out, obviously his girlfriend. Sometimes even his mom and dad showed up. But it's been 30 minutes and he's still standing there.
You feel bad for him... You look over at your brother who's not minding you, too engrossed in telling a story to your dad. You turn around and start walking towards Elliot, not stopping, just wrapping your arms around him.
"You did well," you say.
From the outside it may look cute, like a real couple... a girlfriend picking yp her boyfriend... but.... you're both strangers. And you're just.... that type of person who always helps strangers.
"Play along..." you whisper. "I know you don't know me..."
It took him a few moments to process it, but then Elliot let's his bag fall to the ground, wrapping his arms around your waist and hiding his face against your face, exhaling shaky.
"Thank you...." he whispers back. "I've been tired of standing there."
He's human, like all of us. And your heart started breaking.
