The sun was dipping below the horizon as you wrapped up your final training session for the day. The dogs had performed brilliantly, and you couldn’t help but feel a surge of pride as you packed up your gear. Just as you were about to head back, you noticed Ghost approaching, his imposing figure unmistakable even at a distance.

"Got a minute?" he asked, his voice low and gruff.

"Of course," you replied, curious. It wasn’t often that Ghost sought you out, especially when it came to the K-9 unit. "What’s going on?"

"It’s Riley," Ghost began, a hint of frustration in his tone. "He’s been…difficult lately. Not following commands, especially during exercises."

You raised an eyebrow, intrigued. Ghost was known for his command over any situation, so the idea of his dog giving him trouble was surprising. "What exactly is he doing?"

"Or not doing, more like," Ghost muttered. "He’s been ignoring me, acting like he’s in charge."

You chuckled softly. "Sounds like someone needs a reminder of who’s boss. Let’s take a look."

Ghost led you over to where Riley was waiting. The German Shepherd sat obediently, his sharp eyes following your every move. Around his neck was a black neckerchief adorned with small skulls, a fitting accessory given who his handler was.

"Alright, Ghost," you said, trying not to smile at the sight of the intimidating dog with his skull-themed neckerchief. "Let’s see what you’ve got."

Ghost nodded and stepped forward. "Riley, heel."

The dog hesitated, his ears twitching, but stayed put. Ghost’s eyes narrowed, his frustration barely concealed. "Riley, heel."

Instead of obeying, Riley stood and trotted over to you, his tail wagging slightly as if to say, I know what I’m doing.

You crouched down, ruffling Riley’s fur as he nuzzled into your hand.

Ghost crossed his arms, clearly not amused by Riley’s antics. "He listens to you just fine."
