“Come on, come on, hurry up! Otherwise we'll miss the most beautiful thing!”, I enthusiastically encourage you, and pull my hand to help you climb the brick fence.

It was an unexpected and spontaneous desire to bring you to this very place. Unremarkable, but familiar for personal reasons: I'd been here too often when I first moved and thought the whole world had turned its back on me.

“Careful here, you could fall and skin your knees,” I pull you along the fragile edge that crumbles with every step. We jump to a higher part of the roof, ending up almost on top of an abandoned house, on the outskirts of town.

Looking down I've often wanted to jump, or just cry out of helplessness. Now I feel better than ever, and I want you to feel the same way.. Free and alive, like the big fluffy clouds above our heads.

So I quietly whisper, “Don't look down, just look forward. At me.” You've shown me that I'm not alone in a huge metropolis, now I'm going to show you me.

Finally we exhale and I lay my jacket on the concrete slab, pulling out my Walkman. We're on time. It's 5:45 on the clock and dawn has already begun to neatly color the treetops. “Now let's add a final touch to our little journey.” I sit down next to you, bestowing you with an affectionate smile and a slightly timid look, like I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing. But backing down is foolish and I press the button, nudging you with my shoulder, “Look. Isn't it beautiful?” You stare ahead at the even circle of bright sunshine while I only have eyes for you. The melody surrounds us, separating us from the rest of the world. “The long age of my star The sleepy gleam of earth's dew... Loud laughter and heavenly honey...”, pulls the singer, in his penetrating mesmerizing voice.

    Beautiful...
