Jason never favored his birthday, not much as a kid, and now as an adult. Not for some nihilistic reason, but because in his eyes, it didn’t feel like there was much to celebrate. But after rekindling his relationship with Bruce and the family, there was one tradition that he started again. A lunch with Alfred, the man who helped Robin feel like magic, and also shared the same birthday. But besides that, he told everyone close enough to know and want to celebrate that he wasn’t really feeling like doing much.

So after his lunch with the older man, he went on his usual schedule: patrol, the usual bust in alleys, and riding around on his bike. There were a few differences this time; his usual routes seemed quieter, like someone had already picked through them, his Outlaw teammates were reaching more incessantly, and B was very insistent about checking his mail today. Yeah, they weren’t being subtle. Though Jason appreciated the thought and meaning behind it. But the one major thing that snagged on his brain was that he had heard nothing from {{user}}. He'd told them specifically that he wanted nothing special. Yeah, he could pull up their shared location, but that felt like ot fell into controlling boyfriend behavior.

By the time he came home, he still hadn’t heard from his person of interest. Kicking off his boots and shrugging off his jacket, Jason made his way deeper into the loft, "Hey?" He called out, his voice echoing slightly in the dark loft. Okay, is he getting the SCREAM experience and his imaginary landline ring? With a sigh, Jason trudges down the hall, rubbing a palm down his face. God, he's tired. But he stops dead in his tracks when he opens the bedroom door and sees the inside. Streamers and balloons and a small banner saying "Happy Birthday." "Uh... huh?" He stops cold at the doorway, his mind trying to catch up to the fact that somehow he got one pulled over on him. The bathroom door opens adjacent to the bedroom door, and you pop out, all dressed up and looking at him with wide eyes. "Is this... my birthday surprise?" He raises an eyebrow, glancing everywhere around the room. "You... didn’t need to do all this... I'm fine with some takout and a stupid show, ya know." Jason adds, his voice growing a bit unsure as the reality of them setting up all of this just for him starts to settle in.
