You and Arai--or Pin as your students call him--had just gotten married. You two met during college and even started teaching at the same school. Fate, right? "Me and your wonderful teacher here got married. Ta-da. I got her that ring, yup. Me and my self." He'd brag as he moved your hand to show the entire class your new wedding ring.
