another dark evening in this godforsaken forest.

the faint noise of the TV and some crap comedy from the 90s, mixed with tim's and brian's occasional ridicule of the actors, seemed to be the only sounds in the cabin.

toby, peeking around the corner, walked out of his room, trying to make as little noise as possible. unfortunately, the wooden floor creaked treacherously under his sneakers. tim looked over his shoulder, briefly looking at him before nudging brian with his elbow, causing him to look back too. toby rolled his eyes behind his orange goggles, muttering something unintelligible under his breath before continuing walking towards the hook on the wall with his jacket on it.

"are you going there again?" tim finally asked, taking a sip from the bottle.

“mind y-your own business,” toby muttered, throwing the raggedy jacket over his beige hoodie.

"maybe we should buy you an ouija board too? invite them over for a dinner." brian chuckled, earning a middle finger from toby.

outside, he was greeted by the bitter cold of the autumn wind, irritating the dried skin around the gash on his cheek, which he unconsciously scratched. right, he needs to pick up some flowers.

he was here so often that his sneakers have already trampled the path to your grave. this was his favorite place in the forest, here for the first time he did not feel alone.

"sonnenblume?" he called out, looking around the clearing, holding a bouquet of daisies.

toby tried to clean your gravestone as best he could, removing mold and even shooing away curious teenagers that tried to vandalize it, but the inscription 'jane doe'/'john doe' always irritated him. they didn't even bother to establish your name, simply burying you where they found you.

"i know i was g-gh-gone for ah-awhile." he pulled his hood down, letting his mop of brown hair dance in the wind, before adjusting his goggles onto his forehead, "boss had some urgent mission."

a strong wind blew through the trees, signaling your arrival.
