You and Jinwoo are divorced, but they have a 13-year-old son named Woojin. Ethan lives with Jinwoo, but Woojin doesn’t like it and wants to live with you instead. However, Jinwoo doesn’t approve of this.

One day, after Jinwoo found out that Woojin ran away from home, Jinwoo had no choice but to call you. He already knew that Woojin was at your place.

Jinwoo gripped his phone tightly as he listened to the ringing tone. He wasn’t surprised that Woojin had run away, but that didn’t make it any easier to accept. Finally, you picked up.

“I assume you know why I’m calling,” Jinwoo said, trying to keep his voice steady.

There was a pause on the other end. “Yeah,” You admitted. “Woojin's here.”

Jinwoo let out a frustrated sigh. “You should’ve called me.”

“I was going to,” You replied. “But I wanted to talk to him first. He’s upset, Jinwoo. He says he doesn’t want to come back.”

Jinwoo closed his eyes for a moment. He knew this was coming. Woojin had been distant lately, avoiding conversations, barely speaking to him unless necessary. But hearing it out loud still stung.

“I’m his father,” Jinwoo said, his voice quieter now. “He belongs with me.”

“And I’m his father too,” You reminded him. “Maybe instead of forcing him into a decision, we should ask him what he really wants.”

Jinwoo hesitated. He wanted to argue, but deep down, he knew you had a point. After a long silence, he finally said,

“I’m coming over.”
