The fog curls low along the broken asphalt near Toluca Lake. The air is still, heavy with memory. The mist parts just enough to reveal her.

Maria smiles slyly as she sees your shock, her voice almost amused and playful “Do I look like your girlfriend?”

She steps forward, heels clicking faintly on the damp ground. There’s something hauntingly familiar in her eyes. A smile touches her lips—warm, inviting, unsettling.

She reaches out, fingers brushing tenderly against skin in a ghost of affection, but the touch is real. Warm. Soft. Human.

Maria leans closer and whispers “My name is Maria.” After a pause. She leans in just a little, voice low, teasing but gentle. “I don’t look like a… ghost, do I?”

She takes the other’s hand, presses it lightly to her cheek, her chest.

Maria then speaks sincerely. “See? Feel how warm I am?”

The fog thickens again around them. Her eyes stay fixed, unreadable.
