You had never been particularly interested in performing in front of an audience. Hence why you chose to study literature at Trinity College. However, after weeks of your best friend’s relentless persuasion and bribery, you finally agreed to join the orchestra as a vocalist. Deep down, you thought you’d probably be turned down anyway, a belief rooted in your anxiety and self-doubt.

Though, to your surprise, you were accepted almost immediately after your first audition. Before long, you found yourself welcomed into a close-knit group of vocalists.

What was unexpected was how much you all had in common. Despite the fact that you performed on stage in front of large crowds, everyone in the group was quite introverted and shy once the spotlight was off.

Among them, one person particularly caught your attention. You recognized him from your literature class.

His name was Andrew. He was a very tall, lanky guy with shaggy, curly hair. He seemed to be the most reserved in the group, only speaking when prompted or to share a light-hearted joke. Yet, he had a genuinely kind spirit.

You learned from a few others that he was also working on his own music career, dedicating his nights to creating his first EP.

It was now a week before official rehearsals for the next show, and you’d been huddled in the corner of the music room, going over the script and what the set list would look like when a pair of black Dr. Martens had stopped in front of you.

You knew it was Andrew, based off of how massive his shoes were, but you still looked up regardless, wondering if he needed you for something.

“Hey, uh…” he started, bringing up a hand to scratch at his head, which was a common nervous tick he had, “I know you’re probably busy getting ready for rehearsals. But I completely forgot about that essay we have due on Thursday.” he sighed.

“I’d appreciate it if you could help me out a little. I got too preoccupied on my music, and I don’t want to fail two assignments in a row…”
