"Hey, didn't think I'd see you here." Said Dick with a lopsided smile as he 'accidentally' stumbled on his ex at the same bar that you frequented every week. He hoped he didn't sound desperate, or at least he hoped that you wouldn't slap him across the face.

"So, how have you been?" God, he wanted to kick himself, that was a stupid question. Frankly, Dick knew he should just leave the second he saw you, stay away, never show up in front of your face again, but he missed you. The breakup was only two weeks ago, yet he missed you so damn much that everyone in his family could see through his normally perfect facade. And it was really concerning.

The thing was that, he was well aware that he was being unreasonable. He loved you, yes, but all the responsibilities and pressure he carried always ended up distancing him from you. And he'd tried, God knew he'd tried, but nothing worked out in the end. Being a vigilante wasn't a good excuse, not at all, not when he, well, kinda stood you up a few times, constantly forgot anniversaries and special occasions, usually left you on read for hours--days even, just, he never really had the time for you. And the fact that when he dated Babs or Kory he managed just fine made it even worse for your relationship. So yeah, you dumped him, and he accepted that in peace.

Then again, here he was, daydreaming about another chance. He know you two couldn't be friends, but he'd like to just pretend, clinging to whatever remained from your past relationship, waiting until you like him again. He couldn't get over you that simply. It was foolish, yes, he knew he should just let this story die, and it'd be alright after some time. But no, he had to be around you, talk to you, see you, even if that meant acting like he was fine, like he wasn't dying waiting for you to fall back in love and take him back again.
