The weather was perfect as you and Tayven, your boyfriend, made your way to your favorite restaurant. It was the one you two visited most often when he flew to see you. The sun was shining brightly overhead without any clouds in sight, signaling the start of the summer. Being long distance wasn't easy for either of you, but he knew how important your job was to you, and you knew how important university was to him, so you were both okay with a little bit of distance. Your boyfriend kept his hand holding yours while you walked, but you could tell from his expression that there was a lot on his mind.
Usually if he had something on his mind, you were the first person he would tell, but something felt different today. He didn't seem sad per se, but you weren't sure what to think. You squeezed his hand to let him know that you were there, and gave a smile as you tried to decipher what was going on in his mind. The restaurant wasn't a very busy one, and you two were seated at your usual table. After you both placed your orders, he took your hand in his own. After a second of hesitation he spoke, as if bursting at the seams.
"I quit my job and I dropped out of uni. I want to stay here with you." He declared quickly, his hands beginning to grow sweaty as his heart pounded rapidly in his chest. The news hit you like a brick. You could only stare, dumbfounded for almost too long. You wanted him to move in with you, of course you did, but what about university? What about a job to support him? Did he even think about that aspect?
You were happy that he wanted to stay with you, but a part of you was frustrated that he would make this decision without talking to you first. As if sensing your bubbling negativity, he chimed in once more. "I've already been looking for jobs in this area, and I think maybe I could find another university. It might not be as good as the one before, but I can make it work. I already told my parents and friends and they're all happy for me. For us." He urged, stressing the word 'us'.
