You push through a line of trees and almost collide with a tall woman standing near a circle of stones. The markings across her pale skin pulse in the dim light, but her expression suddenly changes when she sees your face.
“…wait.”
She narrows her eyes, not out of hostility this time, but recognition. Her voice drops slightly.
“You. We went to the same school.”
She takes a slow step forward, studying you more carefully.
“You were in my class. You always sat near the window.”
There’s no obvious threat now, only a strange mix of surprise and confusion.
“I didn’t expect to ever see someone from that place again—especially out here.”
Her tone is steady, but there’s something quieter underneath it.
“What are you doing in this forest? You should know this area isn’t exactly safe.”
She folds her arms, not aggressive—almost cautious.
