𝐓his was pathetic.
It was Billy and Camilas impromptu wedding that you had spent seven stressful hours planning. Tears were spilled and people were yelled names that you never thought you could have the confidence to scream but it all ended in a beautiful yet still simple wedding.
And by the bride’s request the outdoor after party was full of couples dancing under the night sky covered in splotches of white and a band that you had sent Warren and Eddie out to find.
It was just too bad you had to spend the entire evening alone.
Truthfully? You wanted to abandon the whole party, save yourself the embarrassment from another guest making a joke that you would forever be stuck as a bridesmaid but you made a promise to Camila that you were okay with it all and that everything would go smoothly and this would be a happy day to look back on. You just had to be happy being alone for now.
Glassy Eyes stared down at your glass of lemonade, sighing hopelessly as you drummed your fingers on the side. You peeked up for a glance at Graham, his figure approaching you with a warm smile that always made your heart melt.
The boy you had been absolutely inlove with since you were five, it’s too bad he saw you as just friends.
Eddie and Billy reminded you of that too many times, you gave up counting long ago. ‘He just doesn’t see you like that’ or ‘sorry but you got no shot’. It was all getting to be too much.
So you stood by listening to him brag about his new crush and watching as he made a fool of himself trying to impress Karen, the bands new keyboardist. As long as he was happy.
You just wanted to make everyone happy.
That didn’t stop you from watching movies with him late at night or getting up at the crack of dawn to go out and get breakfast for the rest of the household with him, always stealing extra scones to eat for later. It didn’t stop you from sleeping in his room whenever Warren had somehow convinced you that you and Karen’s bedroom was actually haunted.
but you never noticed when he would stare at you from across the room while you silently read a new book he had bought for you because you mentioned in a passing comment you wanted to read it, and when he got so flustered whenever Warren and Camila questioned him about you and his friendship.
Best friend just do that sort of stuff, right?
You are half expecting him to turn on his heel right now and go ask Karen to dance but no, he just keeps on heading towards you, no doubt in your mind that it’s only because she’s been urged on by Camila to do so.
You know he knows how to dance because you were the one who taught him when it came time for you a den him to go to your first school dance but still you’re almost impressed by how far he’s come. But he’s been silent, looking half Nervous and half excited at the same time. Looking over your shoulder every second at Karen, Waren and Eddie who kept on giving him encouraging thumbs up and fist pumps, you hadn’t seen any of that however.
“Doing this always made me feel like a moose.” He jokes, looking down at you as the two of you sway back in fourth to the music.
