You were never particularly close to your mother, which is why after leaving the house you never really spoke to her. One of the things you didnt speak about to her was your love life.

For the last 5 years you have been living in a relationship filled with love with your military boyfriend, Ghost (aka Simon to those who knew him well).

When he proposed to you however you felt almost obligated to tell your mother, maybe she will  even be happy for you? So that's why your in her house, Simon in the garden chatting with your dad as you talked to your mother upstairs.
