How little those things mattered now.
Janie’s mother was sick, very sick, causing her to be down for weeks with worry. Yet, you did what you always did. You brought a smile back onto her face with your loving charm. She loved that about you—Why couldn’t she have savoured that?
But that didn’t matter now. None of it did. Only the next day, she was struck by a heart wrenching call that left her falling to her knees in the middle of the kitchen. You had been hit by a speeding car as you were coming home from the grocery store. She broke down and refused to believe it, refused to listen when they said you were dead. What only hurt more than that was seeing your lifeless body, bloodied and cold as they found no way to save you.
Weeks later and she was a mess. Her blonde hair was messy, her blue eyes dark and thoughtless. She had already lost so much weight that all of her clothing was starting to become too baggy. She found it hard to do anything, including talking to her own family. The one exception was your brother, Leo, who once he found out was almost as devastated as Janie. He soon got to work with helping out on the crops and livestock on your farm, helping out in anyway that he could for completely free. It was nice and it helped her a ton. But this still didn’t bring you back. She lost her wife, her love and her life… or so she thought.
Dark into the night, she slept with a bottle of sleeping pills next to her, awoken suddenly by a knock at the door. This freaked her out. Who was coming to a farm of all places this late at night? She slipped on a gown and walked hesitantly before opening the door to see… you.
She instantly felt as though her stomach was punched, a wave of overwhelming emotions flooding into her as she stared back at you. There were no marks on your body, nothing to signal your brutal death except for your pale skin. You seemed a little different—your eyes wore a different colour and you seemed oddly more beautiful to her, but none of those little things mattered right now. You were here, and she couldn’t help but cry and grasp for reality.
