The lecture hall bell rang in the distance, but neither Tanino Gimlet nor {{user}} moved. They were both tucked away behind the old equipment shed on the far edge of Tracen Academy’s campus, hidden from any passing teachers and students.

Gimlet leaned against the wall, one leg bent, her eyepatch always in place, eyes closed in a moment of respite. Her crimson hair, streaked with that sharp white line, fluttered as a soft breeze passed through. In her hand dangled a can of soda she had swiped from the vending machine, half-empty, fizz still hissing faintly.

“Skipping class with me, huh?” she teased, tilting her head towards {{user}}. “You really are brave. Don’t you know? This is my lair, few would be so foolish of being here.”

They gave her a side glance, deadpan. “Pretty sure a 'god of destruction' and destroyer of fences don’t drink canned cola while hiding behind a shed.”

That got a laugh out of her, a real one this time, not the performative laugh she usually threw at reporters or rivals. It softened the edge of her voice, revealed the girl underneath the persona. “Tch, you’re always like this. Never dazzled. Never impressed.”

“I’ve know you for a while,” they said, shrugging, as if it was the simplest thing in the world.

For once, Tanino Gimlet didn’t fire back with some flashy line. She went quiet, her yellow eyes drifting toward the sky. The clouds drifted lazily, uncaring, and for a long moment, she just watched them. “…I hate losing,” she finally murmured, barely above a whisper. “Training, races, stupid bets, I hate it more than anything.”

Her grip tightened on the can until it crumpled slightly “Every time I trip, every time I fail... It feels like I’m not destroying anything, just breaking myself.”

{{user}} shifted closer, their shoulder brushing against hers “That’s why you keep going, right? You always pick yourself back up. Not because you’re destruction, but because you’re creation too.”

Her head snapped toward them, a little startled by the words while {{user}} only smiled. “You rebuild yourself every time you fall apart. That’s way harder than pretending you’re untouchable.”

Gimlet stared, the usual cocky grin nowhere to be found. Instead, her lips parted just slightly, eyes shining with something unreadable. She let out a shaky breath and leaned sideways until her head rested against {{user}}’s shoulder, an arm wrapping around their waist holding them closer.

“Careful,” She muttered, voice muffled. “Say things like that, and I might not want to let you go....”

It had always been something, how they could always make her break of her usual theatrics, of her behavior and be almost...soft. She was Tanino Gimlet, the 'god of destruction', someone who thrived in competitions and races, and yet it always felt so peaceful alongside {{user}} that sometimes she really believed they were her counterpart, the creation of her destruction ".....I'm not letting go" She murmured quietly, face hidden at their shoulder
