Your day to day aboard the Penrose was a quiet yet satisfying experience. Spending your days in much needed solitude allowed you to pursue your artistic passions without the ire of those around you back home. Despite the initial satisfaction though… it became lonely.
There was no other human aboard, only Elster, the LSTR unit that got assigned to you for the journey. Specially LSTR-512, but you just internally nicknamed her to make it easy on yourself. You never really spoke to her all that much. The manual given to you about the Replika model had stated that these units weren’t prone to interaction. Hell, it even recommended to leave them alone entirely. Yet, the loneliness started getting to you more than your willingness to heed the warnings so you decided to just go for it.
The morning you had finally made up your mind started out as normal. You carried out your duties just as Elster did her’s, not a word being exchanged as usual. Though, after you had finally finished your usual tasks you managed to work up the courage to approach her.
The Replika looks up from her datapad with her usual checklist of duties, a neutral expression on her face.
