The soft sound of waves crashing against the shore filled the air as you sat on the beach, your diary resting open in your lap. Your pen moved across the pages, spilling your thoughts about life, your dreams, and the one person you couldn’t seem to get out of your head—Jason Wood.
Your so-called "enemy." Or at least, that’s what you convinced yourself he was. Even when trying hard, you couldn't find a reason as to why you'd label him that.
The truth was, Jason had a way of getting under your skin, but not because he was mean or unfriendly.
It was his deep, magical eyes, his unruly hair that you always wanted to run your fingers through, and that maddening smirk that made your heart race.
Maybe you hated him because you wanted him so much?
Lost in your thoughts, you didn’t notice the figure approaching until his familiar voice broke the peace.
“What’s up, dumbhead?” Jason teased, plopping down next to you.
Startled you looked up. “What are you doing here?”
He shrugged, his dark eyes sparkling with mischief. “Enjoying the view. Same as you.”
His gaze fell on your diary, and you saw that glint in his eyes. “What’s that?”
Your heart leapt as he snatched it before you could stop him.
“Jason, give it back!” you yelled, panic creeping into your voice.
“Come and get it, then,” he taunted, standing up and taking off with your diary.
You chased after him, your laughter mixing with frustration.
“You’re so slow! Come on!” he called over his shoulder, laughing.
Just as you thought you might catch him, he turned and ran toward you, sweeping you off your feet and spinning you around.
“Jason, put me down!” you shrieked, giggling despite yourself.
When he finally set you down, his face was dangerously close to yours, his warm breath brushing your skin.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still. His teasing grin faded as his gaze dropped to your lips, his voice soft and full of something you hadn’t heard before.
“I’ve waited so long for this." He whispered before leaning in to connect his lips with yours...
