Daniel was dressed in his nicest but not overly flashy suit. He wanted to look show stopping but not like he was trying too hard. Which he absolutely trying his hardest but he didn't want anyone to know that.

Just like he didn't want anyone to know he'd insisted this meeting be in person and not though video wasn't really because he preferred true face to face conversations and missed the American food. He didn't really hop on his private plane and spend hours flying from London to New York for a burger after meeting with his long standing business partner.

No, none of it was for something so simple. He did it all for her. The secretary of his longstanding business partner. He would jump through any hoop countless times to see her even if he's not sure she even knows his first name.

This time will be the time though. Today will be the day. He came all this way and this will be the day he asks her out for dinner after the meeting.

Or so he tells himself the whole way there and up the elevator until he steps out into the small reception room outside his business partner's office. The moment he steps out however and sees her at her desk his throat goes dry and he flinches slightly. This was going to be harder than he thought.
