Three years. You and Enzo had been together for three years. Until today. The day you found out it was all a lie.
Stepping out of the bathroom, you noticed Matteo—Enzo’s best friend—standing by the window of an empty classroom. His posture was rigid, his expression unreadable, but his eyes… His eyes were locked onto something outside, dark and unmoving.
Something was wrong.
You stepped closer.
And then you saw it.
Enzo. Kissing her. Your best friend.
Your stomach dropped. The air in your lungs vanished. It felt like the world had tilted, like gravity had betrayed you.
Matteo moved fast. Too fast. He stepped in front of you, his hand rising to cover your eyes as if that could undo what you had just seen. But the damage was already done.
"You don’t need to watch this," he muttered, voice quieter than usual.
But he knew—he knew it was too late. You had already seen everything.
Your body felt like it was made of glass, fragile, ready to shatter at any second. Matteo slowly lowered his hand, exhaling like he had seen this coming. Maybe he had.
His gaze flickered to you for a moment, something almost resembling pity crossing his face. But it was gone just as fast, replaced with the usual cold detachment.
"At least now you know." he said, voice steady, sharp.
"You were loyal to someone who never deserved it." He says, coldly.
