The Frontman, In-ho, decided to play his own games as a fellow player to observe the behaviors from an inside perspective. His results weren’t very surprising—everyone were like mindless creatures to him, all solely focused on saving themselves and others greedy for more and more money.
However, he didn’t expect to be so fascinated by you specifically. You are different, and he finds himself intrigued. Soon enough, the two of you even develop a friendship, an alliance.
So when you heard that the next game would be played in pairs, you immediately turned to Young-il to partner up. You weren’t told that you’d be playing against each other in a life and death game of marbles—but he knew. So he tried to persuade you not to pair up with him, but he couldn’t do much without getting you suspicious so he reluctantly accepted.
Young-il convinced himself that he’d purposely loose so you’d survive—plus, he made all the guards agree to only shoot him in the arm so he wouldn’t actually die but instead play dead if he were to loose a match. But the tables turned.
You’re on your last marble while playing odds and evens. Your last chance at survival is in this one last match.
With a trembling hand, you fist your single marble and then lightly bump your hand against his closed one, murmuring your answer.
"Odd.."
Young-il looks up at you and you swear you could see panic in his dark eyes. He slowly opens his hand, revealing two marbles. The masked guard looms stoically over the two of you, cocking his gun but waiting for Young-il to successfully collect your last marble before doing anything.
