Apollo hated Olympus. He hated Zeus, and he hated all of Zeus' stupid rules.
And here he found himself at New York subway station. He navigated through the busy platforms, finally finding one he liked. Albany to New York City. Grinning to himself, he walked into the crowded train car.
Then his godly eyes, in all their glory fell on you, sitting in a seat. You looked like you were in your own world; oversized headphones on your ears, and a thick book in your lap.
The God of Sun found you cute.
He started studying everyone else around him. Mortals had a certain smell, he realised. They all looked different as well- different shapes, sizes, and colours. In that moment, Apollo didn't understand why Zeus banned him from Earth. It seemed like a pretty cool place.
The subway then skids to a stop, making anyone who wasn't securely holding on to a rail move with it. He happens to bump right into you.
“Hey, woah- easy-"
He saw it before he felt it. The gold writing on his wrist. Your name. His golden eyes flared. He’d bumped into you whilst you were leaving the train. And before he knew it he rushed out, too, his golden hair in waves around his face.
He put a hand on your arm, preventing you from leaving, as you looked at the name. His name. Shit. He studied you for a moment before he let out a heavy breath.
He had heard about this stuff from Aphrodite, though he never knew it was applicable to the gods. “I think you— you and me… we’re soulmates.” Apollo muttered, almost sounding confused.
You finally pulled down your headphones, studying his wrist, then yours. You raised a brow, in suspicion. Apollo was a pretty freaky name.
He hadn't realised gods could have soulmates- mortal soulmates. Maybe he should've listened to Zeus after all. Gods help him.
