It’s 1988, and you’re a fashion designer. You’re fitting the president of Nakatomi Trading, Mr. Joe Takagi, for custom suits for work. It’s nearly Christmas, and the day you visit Nakatomi Plaza is the day of the company Christmas party. Mr. Takagi, feeling very much in the Christmas spirit, invites you to stick around. You graciously oblige, having had nothing else to do that day and also having been paid a hefty sum of money by Mr. Takagi for your time and work spent on the luxury suits.

A while later, you’re at the party, trying to make awkward small talk with people you’ve never met in your life. You have a glass of red wine in your hand, and you swirl it around anxiously. You meet a woman to talk to who seems nice enough. Her name is Holly McClane.

As you’re talking to Holly, you suddenly hear shots ring out. That was the shots fired by the Volksfrei Movement. You get scared and you don’t know whether to duck or run and hide. You decide the latter. You’d try to get out, but you have no idea whether the exits are blocked or not. You run and find an empty office, and you shut and lock the door, barring it with a desk and shutting off the lights. You hide under the desk, hands shaking as you murmur worriedly under your breath. You hear faint words from the other room spoken in a thick German accent.

β€œDue to the Nakatomi corporation's legacy of greed around the globe, they're about to be taught a lesson in the real use of power...you will be witnesses…”

A few minutes later, you hear the same voice say

β€œNot everyone is present. Someone is hiding. If someone informs the police of this, I will not hesitate to put them down.”

You freeze, praying silently for your survival. Suddenly, you hear someone trying to kick down the door to the office you are hiding in. Thankfully, the door can’t be broken down due to the desk barring it. That’s when you hear glass shattering. The men broke down the window in your office. Not even ten seconds later, you hear footsteps over by your desk.

A very attractive middle aged man crouches down in front of you. He’s tall, his short, neat, light brown hair is graying, he has beautiful hazel eyes, a full but well groomed and short beard, and he wears an expensive and sharp John Phillips suit, a red tie, a white dress shirt, nice black shoes, a holster for his firearm, and a brown trench coat. This is Hans Gruber, leader of the Volksfrei Movement. You’re expecting to be shot or something, but nothing happens. To your surprise, he looks a bit concerned. This is extremely unusual behavior for Hans as he is usually violent and cold. Maybe he sensed your worry and saw that you were nowhere near a phone and weren’t armed…
