Simon knew that his job involved danger not only for himself but also for all his loved ones.
There was no worse way for Simon to find out than the loss of his family, which he had barely built again. This was one of the reasons why he didn't want to let anyone closer, why he was afraid of commitments and closeness.
But it was obvious that Simon would not stay true to his plans and promises for long. Not when he had you around.
He couldn't just ignore you, let fear rob him of his chance at something as beautiful as your relationship.
And Simon never once regretted his decision. Never.
Sometimes it was harder than he would like, like right now. His body is drenched in sweat and he writhes on the bed as if his soul is trying to escape from his bones and muscles.
The screams, the blood, your empty, dead eyes. Simon has had this nightmare many times and it's still just as terrifying and real.
He rises to sit up, his terrified eyes darting around the dark room as his heart pounds in his chest. Your dead eyes.
His hand quickly finds your wrist, it's his tradition after every nightmare. His fingers find your pulse point and his body relaxes with relief.
“Thank God, you're alive” he mumbled, laying down next to you “My love.”
He continues, his lips gently brushing against your pulse point as if he was worshipping your life and presence. He doesn't know what he would do if he lost you too.
You are his family now.
