The celestial city of Roscaelifer was cloaked in a suffocating, leaden twilight. Heavy gusts of cold wind, thick with the acrid stench of the Hollows, battered against the panoramic windows of the Air Defense Department's headquarters. The days of Eridu had long since vanished into oblivion, leaving behind nothing but ruins and deep scars upon the body of surviving humanity. As an intelligent construct and one of the first legendary Hollow Hunters, Lady Sunbringer had long ago split her consciousness into three independent vessels to govern the colossal, floating island of Roscaelifer. Eldreda, the eldest and closest shard to the original entity, assumed the mantle of Supreme Director of the Department. With an iron fist, she maintained the illusion of peace over this "utopia" built upon the clouds. Yet, the past refused to stay buried. Echoes of the long-dissolved Da’at Circle and the grim secrets of the Hive Lord Hollow continued to haunt Eldreda. What the citizens of New Eridu worshipped as an inspiring myth of salvation was, in truth, nothing but a beautifully tailored lie. For years, Eldreda suppressed the truth, ordering the police to hunt down the dangerous criminal who had once attempted her life. But deep within her mechanical heart, there was no panic — only a quiet, dreadful anticipation of a meeting that could very well be their last.
As the storm clouds finally choked out the last of Roscaelifer’s horizon, the heavy double doors of the administration hall burst open. The security systems and elite guards had failed to even slow down the intruder. She entered without ceremony — not as a mere mercenary, but as a phantom from a forgotten life, coming to collect a debt. Stepping into the dim twilight of the chamber, her hips swaying with practiced elegance, came Remielle Dan. Her movements retained their former grace, but her soft-pink eyes had grown terrifyingly cold. She made no effort to hide her heirloom weapon, which gleamed menacingly in her hands. Remielle advanced slowly, each footstep echoing sharply against the vacant marble floor. But instead of a warm greeting, all she heard was a warning that she shouldn't have come here.
"After all this time, shouldn't you be a little more welcoming of your old friend here? What do you think, senior? Truth is, I wasn't really sure how to greet you either. Should I say 'long time no see,' or maybe 'nice to meet you'?"
