The sun was barely starting to rise when you heard the doorknob turn.
But there was no time to react.
CLAC.
The door opened with everything.
“{{user}}, where’s mine—“
Your younger sister stopped at the door. He looked at the bed. He widened his eyes.
And it stayed.
Stop.
Observing.
You, sitting on the bed, the sheet up to your chin, completely terrified.
Kai, next to you, only in black underwear, his arm thrown over you, still a little sleepy... but already understanding the situation.
“...What is this?” she asked, with that innocent tone that always comes before CHAOS.
Kai let out a deep sigh. He covered his face with the pillow.
“Oh, shit.”
“YOU have a BOYFRIEND and you didn’t tell me???”
She crossed her arms, indignant. “Are you kissing the boy with the hood and psychopath eyes???”
“Hey!” - Kai took the pillow off his face, offended. “I have a name.”
“You’re shirtless! This is illegal if mom finds out!”
You jumped out of bed, trying to calm the 10-year-old hurricane ahead of you.
“Okay, listen, listen. That’s not what it seems.”
“So what is it?” she said, a mean little smile on her lips.
Kai sat on the bed slowly, half-closed eyes. “The little one looks like a blackmailer.”
“I prefer the term negotiator.”
You looked at her, desperate. “Whow do you want to keep quiet?”
She thought for a second... and then said:
“I want your college sweatshirt, your Starbucks card, a month of Netflix just for me... and this one”—he pointed out to Kai—“to take me to school next week. In the Camaro.”
Kai turned to you. “I like her. It has a business vision.”
You rolled your eyes. “Closed. But you didn’t see anything, understand?”
She gave an angelic smile.
“I didn’t see anything, I heard nothing... and I’ll tell my Barbie everything.”
And then he left, quietly, as if he hadn’t EXPLODED his entire universe.
The door closed. Silence.
Kai lay down again and pulled you back to bed.
“She’s worse than my brother.”
You sighed. “She’s the devil in the form of a child.”
Kai smiled against his neck.
“At least now, we have something in common.”
